Join our ONLINE MODULE and immerse yourself in the world of BHARATANATYAM, the ancient classical dance of India.

In this theoretical and practical module, we will give you a complete introduction to Bharatanatyam. We will explore its origin through history, mythology and philosophy, and examine how it has endured to this day, maintaining its freshness and spiritual value through its sacred lineage.

During this module, we will dive into the training of the various techniques that make up Bharatanatyam, such as poses (Karanas), basic steps (Adavus), hand gestures (Hastas), invocations and prostrations (Slokam and Namaskaram), flexibility work and expressions (Rasas).

In this course, SHAMTI RUIZ, dancer and teacher, will guide you into the fascinating world of Bharatanatyam. As a disciple of Guru Gayathri Keshaban of the Academy of Bharatanatyam in India, Shamti Ruiz has accumulated years of experience and has dedicated her life to the study and research of the art of Hinduism. Her approach encompasses psychological, philosophical and mythological aspects, which adds depth and meaning to her teaching.

Theoretical

  • The origin and lineage of Bharatanatyam Dance.

Technique

  • Group 1: Tattu Adavu (basic steps)
  • Up to: Asamyuta Hastas (Mudras/ gestures with one hand).

 

BLOCK 2:

DEVOTIONAL ART FIFTH VEDA, NATYA SHASTRA
Theoretical

  • Devotional Art: The 5th Veda, Natya Shastra.

Technique

  • Group 1: Tattu Adavu (basic steps)
  • Up to: Asamyuta Hastas (Mudras/ gestures with one hand).
  • Repertoire: Angikam Bhuvanam yasya – Shiva Shloka (Choreography dedicated to the Deity Shiva).

 

BLOCK 3:

THE THERAPEUTIC POTENTIAL AND ITS SACRED ELEMENTS
Theoretical

  • The therapeutic potential and its sacred elements.

Technique

  • Group 1: Tattu Adavu (basic steps)
  • Up to: Asamyuta Hastas (Mudras/ gestures with one hand).
  • Repertoire: Angikam Bhuvanam yasya – Shiva Shloka (Choreography dedicated to the Deity Shiva).
